Mr John Otieno

John Otieno is a trained, licensed qualified Nutritionist with 13 years’ experience. Currently he is coordinating Regional Advocacy work at Action Against Hunger for Horn and East Africa Countries-Somali, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Haiti. He leads Action Against Hunger’s efforts to influence policies and build relationships with Government and decision makers to achieve advocacy objectives. He oversees the development and implementation of all Regional Countries based Advocacy strategies, ensuring engagement and coordination with all departments and project teams.Otieno is Supporting development of project specific advocacy and communications action plans while providing technical guidance for their implementation. Monitor, identify and articulate key humanitarian and development issues, trends, policies and practices relevant to the thematic areas of Hunger and lobby appropriate agencies for action. He develops and coordinates partnerships with other organizations (NGO, ESA and SUN Kenya civil societies) and networks to strengthen collaboration and facilitate joint advocacy planning and activities.He is also a member of the Scaling Up Nutrition Global steering group.
