Born May 5, 1962 in Nakskov, Denmark; Ev. Lutheran; married; three children. Abitur in Mellendorf/Wedemark; employment as a forest worker and in agriculture; Studied agricultural economics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen. Working in an SOS Children's Village in Bolivia and a cooperative start-up project in Argentina; until 1998 partner in a wholesale and retail trade with wine from ecological cultivation. Parliamentary group manager in the district of Göttingen; Transport Policy Advisor. Since 1986 member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen; 1993 to 1995 member of the Lower Saxony state board; 1986 to 2001 member of the district council of Göttingen; 1998 to 2021 member of the Lower Saxony state parliament; 2004 to 2013 parliamentary group leader; 2013 to 2017 Lower Saxony Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection; 2017 to 2021 Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. Member of the Bundestag since 2021. Parliamentary State Secretary at Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action since July 2022.
