Climate justice and human rights at COP27 and beyond
Protecting human rights is essential to delivering climate justice. This includes ensuring that all climate policies are ambitious enough to adequately protect the human rights of those most impacted by the climate crisis. It also means climate activists and civil society at large should be able to voice their opinions freely and take to the streets, demanding ambitious climate action, exposing corruption and those who put our environment at risk. Speakers in the event will discuss the role of human rights protection for climate action, with a particular focus on key issues being discussed at COP27 and the human rights situation in Egypt.
